Bragi Ásgeirsson

Bragi Ásgeirsson (born 28 May 1931, died 25 March 2016) was a graphic artist, painter and art teacher. In addition, he was a critic for Morgunblaðin for years. Bragi received the Knight's Cross of the Icelandic Order of the Falcon in 2001 for "work for the benefit of art and culture."


Bragi studied at the School of Handicrafts and Visual Arts between 1947 and 1950. After completing his studies, he went to Denmark, where he studied at the University of the Arts in Copenhagen from 1950 to 1952 and from 1955 to 1956. From 1952 to 1953, Bragi studied at the University of the Arts in Oslo in Norway and the Academy of Arts. He stayed in Rome and Florence from 1953 to 1954 and was a member of the Associazione Artistica Internazionale in Rome. Bragi studied at the University of the Arts in Munich, Germany from 1958 to 1960. He has gone on study tours in many parts of Europe, to the United States, Canada, China and Japan.
