Auður Ómarsdóttir

Auður Ómarsdóttir (b.1988) works in mixed media, but mainly in painting, sculpture, photography and drawing. Physicality and attentiveness play a big role in her creative process. The inspiration usually comes from personal events, elements in the local environment or from the internet, which Auður transfers into his figurative language. Auðar's works usually deal with the attempt to bring about harmony in opposites. She considers paradox to be fundamental in her work process, but she experiences the world as paradoxical and random which is reflected in Auður's work. She consciously works across styles, referring to art history as well as the mainstream. Auður received a BA degree from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2013 and an MA degree from the Bergen Academy of the Arts in 2021. Auður was nominated for the encouragement award of the Icelandic Visual Arts Awards 2018 and sits on the board of the Museum of Contemporary Art.
